"Radiofrequency Radiation Is Dangerous - It Could Kill You"

Until about six year ago I had no idea there was a need for “safer technology.”  I’d been using computers ever since the 1970’s, though I didn't get my first cell phone until about 90% of Americans owned one.  Within about six months I began experiencing constant burning pain whenever I put the phone to my ear.

My partner was trained to repair Huey helicopter radios during the Vietnam War.  He said it was drilled into them every day that radiofrequency radiation is dangerous and it could kill you. So I began using the cell phone on speaker-phone only.  The pain went away and was gone for about two years.

Then our natural gas provider installed two new utility meters on our property.  The installers assured us the new meters only transmit once a month for the meter reading.  So we agreed to the installations.

After about 3 months I began to develop unusual rashes on my body, then at 6 months the pain returned to my ear without provocation on my part.  I called the gas company and got the specifications on the new meters.  In truth, I was told, the new meters PULSED radiofrequency microwave radiation continuously, over 10 pulses per minute.

Over the next 5 months my health took the deepest, fastest dive in my life.

The gas company had no opt-out to their new meters, so I complained to the Michigan Public Service Commission, the Michigan Attorney General’s office, and the Better Business Bureau. None of them could or would help me.  If we wanted natural gas service, per the natural gas company’s regional director, we were stuck with these meters that were destroying my health.

At that point our two dogs were experiencing alarming symptoms also.  So we consulted with a building biologist in training and per her advice, shielded the meters to block the radiation from coming into our living areas, and I began to turn electric breakers to the bedroom off at night.

Within two hours of shielding the pulses of radiation coming from the utility meters, the dog’s symptoms disappeared.  I had become much more ill and overly sensitized to electromagnetic fields, and my recovery has taken much longer.

In my search for answers to what was happening to my health and why, I found several websites that help to address this issue, and many more websites are listed on the right of this blog page under For More Information:

Please support all actions and legislation that help to protect people, plants, animals, insects, and wildlife... this planet in general, from excessive exposure to manmade wireless technology.  Thank you.

Corrections, Psychics & Evidence of Health Effects

Following are my comments given during the Tuesday, March 15, 2016 Battle Creek, Michigan, City Commission meeting...

Consent Agenda Comment

During Commission Comments, Perry Hart (the Director of Public Works in Battle Creek) was asked about House Bill 4916 and he gave some incorrect information.  I'd like to correct that.

The House Bill doesn't just address Consumer's Energy (electricity provider in Battle Creek), the Bill addresses all of Michigan (public) utility companies who are utilizing wireless technology (in their meters).  (House Bill 4916) is a bipartisan supported Bill, with 13% of Michigan State Representatives supporting it.  Four Democrats and 10 Republicans are co-sponsors on this Bill.  So I just wanted to clarify that it addresses all wireless utility meters, not just Consumers Energy.  It would be Consumers Energy, SEMCO Energy (our natural gas provider), Battle Creek Water Department, you name it.

Also, Mr. Hart referred to FCC requirements as the, quote-unquote, "safety net" they are installing smart meters under.  It must be noted that the FCC is not a health regulation agency and it must also be noted that the FCC's allowable levels of radio frequency radiation are among the highest in the world.  The United States is among the highest in the world.

And then, I spoke to Rene' Stoia, Deputy City Clerk in Marysville (Michigan), and she said that their Resolution addressed their electric company, DTE, because that's who the citizens were concerned about.  She also said that they sent their Resolution for a no-fee, analog (utility meter) opt-out choice for all their residents, to Michigan State Legislators, and that, (quote), "Hopefully they will do something about this."

One more thing: City Manager said during this discussion (about Marysville), quote, "Very different composition demographics and the provision of utility service than the City of Battle Creek, they don't have a provision of utility services," or something like that.  I didn't quite understand what that meant.  So if you can explain that?  (I've been told that city officials do not have to answer any questions from the public, and so far, City Manager Rebecca Fleury hasn't clarified that statement for me.)

I do want to thank both Commissioner Faris and Flores for supporting a little more detail in the minutes regarding Public Comments.  Thank you.

Adoption of Ordinance Comment

I would really appreciate it if you did not pass this Ordinance.  I referred to it last week as the "censorship ordinance."  No matter how you cut it, when you do the numbers, it's a 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to comment at City Commission meetings.  And like others have said, if you welcome public comment, you're not showing it in your deeds by passing this ordinance, because a 27% reduction in the comment time is not welcoming.  It's welcoming 27% less comments.  So I would appreciate it if you did not pass this ordinance as it is.

The way (the proposed Ordinance) was worded, and I don't have it with me, but it was worded such that, "we do not anticipate that this will infringe upon public participation."  Something like that.

And my argument is, unless you're psychic, and can see the future, and know who's going to say what, when; you can not anticipate who is going to participate.  Did you anticipate that I was going to come here and talk about smart meters six, seven, however many months ago?  I don't think so.  You probably wish I didn't!

A 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to make a comment is a form of censorship.

General Public Comment

This is regarding health effects from the City of Battle Creek Water Department's wireless smart meters, as well as the smart meters from other (public) utility providers in Battle Creek: Consumers Energy and SEMCO Energy...

The number of signatories continues to grow, and currently there are two-hundred and twenty scientists (medical doctors, public health physicians, PhD's, university professors, engineers, and other scientific professionals), who have put their name, their credentials, their reputation on the line by signing this Appeal to the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and the United Nations Member States.  You can view this Appeal online at EMFScientist.org.  I would like to quote a little of it here:
"We are scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF).  Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices.  These include - but are not limited to - radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitting devices, such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors..."
"Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines.  Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans.  Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life."
At this point I would like to bring your attention to an article published by Oxford University Press, Oxford Journals, Neuro-Oncology: American Brain Tumor Association - Adolescent andYoung Adult Primary Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors Diagnosed in the United States in 2008-2012.

This analysis shows that brain tumors are now the most frequent form of cancer in adolescents in the United States.  And it's our adolescents today who have grown up with increasing numbers of cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, baby monitors, and now smart meters.

This Oxford Journal analysis confirms
what these EMF scientists are saying about health effects.

Thank you for listening.  May you all truly be blessed!

Some after thoughts...

DTE, the electric company that Marysville's Resolution covers, has a history of shutting-off power to some customers who refuse smart meters.  The Resolution Marysville passed was a  very smart move, to nip that shutting-off-power sh*t in the bud.

Who Are You Going To Believe?

Image from this story about how "intent matters" when migratory birds are killed
The following is my three minute comment to the City of Battle Creek, City Commission, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016:
In July of last year, I stood before you and demanded a public hearing before any ordinance or anything was passed that would force smart meters upon water customers.  Instead of making smart meters mandatory, you passed a Resolution establishing an uncapped monthly charge for water customers who do not want a smart meter.  This Resolution was introduced and passed without a public hearing.
Research on the biological effects of long-term exposure to non-thermal radiation, the form of radio frequency radiation we are being exposed to by the City's new water meters, is relatively new.
Wireless industry funded studies show less often, while independently funded studies show more often than not, that biological harm is being done by your smart meter's non-thermal radiation.

The Bioelectromagnetic Society, established in 1978, has been studying long-term effects of non-thermal radiation, and have found, "rigorous and repeatable evidence for non-thermal physiological effects and hazards including potential carcinogenicity," Larry Burk, MD, CEHP.

Actual DNA damage has been documented by Dr. Henry Lai in the BioInitiative 2012 Report.

And Dr. Albert Manville, Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, Senior Wildlife Biologist, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and one of the signatories on the Appeal warning the World Health Organization and United Nations of the emerging public health crisis from wireless technology, including the non-ionizing radiation from your smart meters, wrote:
“While we like our electronic gadgets, the worldwide demand for these technologies of convenience only grows, as do the gargantuan profits that come from selling the devices and their services.  While human health and safety continue to be dismissed by many, growing scientific evidence is showing a dark side to cell phone, WiFi, smart meter and point-to-point technologies."  He then goes on to talk about migratory birds and how they, "now appear to be negatively affected by non-ionizing radiation."
So the question is, who are you going to believe?  Those who stand to profit from smart meters?  Or those who have nothing to gain except public health?
Thank you for listening.  May you all truly be blessed!
The video of the City Commission meeting is here, and I begin speaking at about 55:05.

And The Story Continues...

At the January 5, 2016 City Commission meeting, the City of Battle Creek was introducing a Resolution that would allow water customers to have the transmitter part of their new "smart" water meter installed at a distance, up to 100 feet, from their home.  I gave an impromptu comment about that Resolution at about 29:00 here.  This is the approximate script of what I said:
I’m here to speak about Resolution 47, the remote placement of the device that is the transmitting part of the new water meters.  While this is a Band-Aid, it definitely does not address the real issue of smart meters.

Smart meters are not proven safe.  We have not gone one generation with the level of radio frequency that we are exposed to today.  There is only a small percent of the population, about 3% in the United States, but up to 12% in other countries, that actually feel the effects of the radiation.  Like myself, it took about 6 months before I started feeling pain from my cell phone.  And it took about six months after we had encoder-receiver-transmitter gas meters installed for me to start feeling the pain again in my phone ear, and then a plethora of other symptoms to develop.
But, like I’m saying, this is a Band-Aid.  All we are doing is moving the radiation a little bit further away from our living quarters, which, hey, that is good, because the pulsing, these meters pulse radiation, and it’s numerous times a minute.  Even though some of them say they only wake-up once a month, when the meter reader drives by or when they go to collect the information, they pulse all the time.

Our gas meters, we were told by the company, pulse 10.67 times a minute.  And these micro-pulses, what they do, whether you feel it or not, it’s when we sleep that the body heals and repairs, it’s kind of hard to go anywhere these days without experiencing wireless radiation.  You go into Meijers and they have WiFi.  So we’re constantly being bombarded everyday by this, but we need to have a safe environment where our body can actually shut-down, rest and repair.

Now, having one of these meters 100 feet or so away from our home will help, but we’re still blanketing the environment with more and more radio frequency than we’ve never experienced before.  We have not gone one generation with the amount of wireless technology we have today.  And even the government says that the studies for non-thermal radiation, that which is radiated by these smart meters, the electronic meters, the wireless meters, the encoder-receiver-transmitters, studies are inconclusive, yet when you look, when you do searches there are studies coming up all over the world.
There are countries that have banned and outlawed WiFi in schools which utilize radio frequencies very similar to the smart meters.  There are countries that have banned WiFi in schools.  Why?  Because children, and the elderly, and pregnant women, are more susceptible to this pulsed radiation than regular adults, however about 3% of the population in the United States are like me and feel, if not immediate effects, within a short period of time, harmful effects.

So, I just want to say that this is just a Band-Aid.  We are not addressing the real issue of the harm that these wireless devices create.  And it could take 10 to 20 years.  Cancers don’t develop overnight.  It takes 10 to 15 to 20 years for cancers to develop.

I’m just saying that this is a Band-Aid.  Even though it’s going to get it away from our sleeping areas, perhaps, and allow us to do some healing and repairing, we’re still poisoning ourselves with this.

Thank you for listening.  May you all be blessed.
Later I gave a General Public Comment, at about 70:00 into the recording, where I said:
Regarding what Mr. Dopp said, the FCC is not a health regulation agency. They service the wireless industry.
Wireless utility meters and smart meters are a source of non-thermal electromagnetic radio-frequency radiation, which means, they do not generate heat. Because they don’t generate heat, there is no early warning, no physiological means by which most people can feel and recognize that they are being affected at a biological and metabolic level by a wireless utility meter.
There are no government standards (in North America) that establish safe human exposure limits for non-thermal radiation, that which is utilized by the new wireless water meters. When utility companies insist that the levels of electromagnetic radiation their products radiate fall well within government limits, they are referring only to the limits for thermal radiation, not non-thermal.
On May 11, 2015, 190 scientists from 39 countries submitted an "International EMF Scientist Appeal" to His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations. These scientists have collectively published over 2,000 peer-reviewed papers on the biological and health effects of non-thermal electromagnetic radiation. The Appeal now has 217 scientist signatures.
Dr. Martin Blank, from the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University, says, (quote):
"We are scientists and engineers, and I am here to tell you - we have created something that is harming us, and it is getting out of control! Putting it bluntly, they are damaging the living cells in our bodies and killing many of us prematurely.”
There are videos of live blood analysis that clearly show the harmful effects from non-thermal smart meter radiation. Subjects have blood samples taken both before and after a 2 minute exposure to smart meters. All samples show damage to red blood cells, yet most test subjects feel nothing.
The important thing is that no one has been able to show conclusively that smart meter radiation is safe. And in 2011 the World Health Organization reclassified radio frequency electromagnetic radiation as a “possible carcinogen,” which means that the wireless devices the City of Battle Creek Water Department, and all of our utility companies are installing, may cause cancer.
The City of Battle Creek’s mission statement says, in part, that they want to ensure a safe community, yet admit to having no documentation proving the safety of their new wireless utility meters. Perhaps it is time to re-write the mission statement, or, review your approval of wireless smart meters.
Thank you for listening. May you all be blessed.

Update: SEMCO Energy Gas Company

In response to my recent correspondence with them, SEMCO Energy Gas Company employees and/or representatives have shown total disregard for my health and how their new AMR (automatic read) equipment has been adversely affecting me, as evidenced by the letter we recently received from Cheryl K. Hachee in Consumer Affairs.

Cheryl makes it clear that they don't use "smart meters."   They are now referring to their new AMR meters as, "encoder receiver transmitters," or ERT.

The employees and representatives of SEMCO may not call their new meters smart meters, but they do pulse radiation (electromagnetic waves) 10.67 times per minute at 5.86 milliseconds per pulse.  That information I received "from the horse's mouth," David Williams, Regional Operation Manager, SEMCO Energy Gas Company.

The fact that we have two of their new meters installed means that we are being pulsed over 21 times per minute.  Not a biggie if you're not electromagnetically hypersensitive (though electromagnetic radiation is cumulative, and adverse affects may not manifest immediately).

However, if you are electromagnetically hypersensitive, as I explained to David Williams on September 9, 2015, (the same email that Chery K. Hachee is now "in receipt of"), life can become extremely uncomfortable.  It appears that they don't care.

These new SEMCO AMR ERT meters were installed under false pretenses.  We were told by the installers basically the same thing that Cheryl states, that the new meters only "wake-up once a month."  Maybe they only "wake-up" once a month, but they also pulse 10.67 times per minute, and Cheryl did not deny this, nor any of the other things I stated in my September 9, 2015 email.

Cheryl explains how this ERT (radiation pulsing technology) is "integral" to their metering and billing system, and is "required" to receive gas service.  And I say, Bullshit.  There are old 100% analog gas meters all throughout the city, and those customers are still receiving gas service.

Cheryl does not mention in her letter other comments I made in my September 9, 2015 email to David Williams, that she is in receipt of, regarding safety and health affects of their new meters:
And regarding the information from the manufacturer that you sent.  It holds no weight, because it's from the manufacturer.
The fact is that there are no independent, third-party, long-term tests done on these automated devices that PROVE they are safe, while more and more people, every day, are beginning to experience adverse effects from them, and more and more scientists and medical doctors are attesting to the ADVERSE biological and health effects from wireless devices such as the new utility meters.
The fact is that there is an appeal in front of the World Health Organization, signed by over 200 scientists, based upon over 2,000 peer-reviewed and published studies.  The Appeal asks the WHO to reevaluate the guidelines based upon the over 2,000 studies that show adverse biological and health effects.  https://www.emfscientist.org/
There's also the BioInitiative 2012 Report, published by 29 authors, MDs, PhDs, and other professionals, that conclude that "bioeffects are clearly established."  http://www.bioinitiative.org/
I'm sure there are more studies and reports out there about the adverse health effects wireless devices like your new meters have on the human body, not to mention other animals, the birds, and the bees, if you want to keep digging.  There's several interesting talks Dr. George L. Carlo gives about the studies he was head of, that clearly proved adverse health effects from wireless devices, and what happened to him after he started reporting these findings.  The wireless industry has tried to discredit him for obvious reasons.
Plus the fact that the new chairman of the FCC, Tom Wheeler, has been active in the wireless industry since the 1970's, and now he's in a position to regulate the very industry that has been his bread and butter for over 40 years, explains why the FCC refuses to reevaluate their standards and guidelines.  That's what's called the fox guarding the hen house.  Good for the fox.  Not so good for the hens.
When the only documentation that all of these utility companies have to share, when questioned about the safety of their new equipment, is propaganda from the manufacturer, in other words, from those who stand to profit from the sale of the new meters, is that not cause for concern?

In the meantime, we are looking into converting at least one of the buildings here into either 100% electric, or electric and propane, so that we can start with removing one of the AMR ERT 10.67 pulses per minute meters.

I did call the Michigan Public Service Commission today (1-800-292-9555), and complained to Ryan there of the adverse effects I am getting from SEMCO Energy's AMR ERT meters.  Ryan said that he would have to check with his boss because currently SEMCO doesn't offer an opt-out program.  All the more reason for Michigan to pass the Analog Choice Bill, that will allow all utility customers an analog meter (absolutely nothing wireless/radiation/pulsing about it) choice.

Here is a video of the kind of gas meters that are installed here, and it shows just how they pulse:

Update: SEMCO Smart Meters

It took some time, but finally got some information back from David Williams, the Regional Operation Manager at SEMCO Energy, our natural gas provider, regarding the new meters they installed here late last year.  This is the email we received on September 8, 2015, from David:
Here is some information I have on the type of automated device that Semco uses to collect meter reads. The device we use is a 100 series ERT that only transmits in very short pulses of 5.86 milliseconds for a total of about 1.5 minutes per day. I would be happy to bring one out to show you. We have had these installed in the Battle Creek area since 1996-97. The original devices were called a 40 series vs the newer 100 series we install today.
 David Williams
Regional Operation Manager
SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company
269-660-5501
I did the math, which is taking the 1.5 minutes per day total and dividing that by 5.86 milliseconds.  Spread out over 24-hours, what you get is 10.67 pulses at 5.86 millisecond each of man-made microwave radio frequency radiation per minute.  Then I responded:
Thank you, David, I thought you had forgotten about me!
Thank you for the information.  No wonder!  It totally explains why my symptoms returned.  With 10.67 pulses per minute, I'm being zapped continuously day and night.  And the fact that they are short pulses, explains why it took about 6 months for my symptoms to return.
NO, absolutely do NOT bring any more of those "devices" on this property!  Two were installed over 6 months ago, and the installers gave us misinformation, just like you did.  They and you said these meters were only "woken-up" once a month, when the meter-reader came by, which is not correct.  They send pulses all day long, 24 hours a day, in mini bursts, that disrupts my biology enough to cause adverse health symptoms.
I'm one of those people who can feel them.  They are calling us "the canaries in the coal mine."  Coal miners used to bring canaries into the mines with them because of the delicate nature of the bird, the canary would succumb to deadly yet undetectable gases before the miners would.  They were an early warning sign of trouble.
I am hypersensitive to radio frequencies, they cause me pain and other neurological disruptions.  SEMCO's new meters are causing me pain and must be removed.  We demand that you/SEMCO remove the two meters that were installed on our property under false pretenses, and replace them with 100% analog meters.

SEMCO has 30 days, until October 9, 2015, to remove the two "automated" devices they installed here under false pretenses, and replace them with 100% analog meters, because the automated devices are making me ill.  If SEMCO does not comply, we will arrange to have the devices removed and replaced ourselves.  We appreciate your cooperation.
This is a legal notice.  Notice to principal is notice to agent and notice to agent is notice to principal.  All rights reserved.
It's really interesting, because I get the feeling that David Williams really did not know about the health effects people are having from these new smart meters, nor how they actually pulse all day long.

I haven't heard back from him yet, but will update when I do.

Bless Us All!

[March 11, 2016 Update]:
  • SEMCO Energy states they have no opt-out.
  • The Michigan Public Service Commission has been of no help.
  • The Better Business Bureau has been of no help.
  • We wrapped the meters in lead sheeting (though I've heard that aluminum works just as well).
  • I turn all the electric breakers off at night except for the furnace.
  • These measures have helped tremendously, and most of my severe 'symptoms' have subsided, though, the City of Battle Creek is planning on installing 24 new antennas this summer.
If you want to do something about this situation regarding smart meters, talk to your local government about a no-fee smart meter opt-out with the choice to keep the old, safe and reliable analog meters.

If you live in Michigan, please read this about Utility Meter Choice Legislation, House Bill 4916.

"Radiofrequency Radiation Is Dangerous - It Could Kill You"

Until about six year ago I had no idea there was a need for “safer technology.”  I’d been using computers ever since the 1970’s, though I ...
