"We Don't Want Your Smart Meter"

She is 100% correct regarding health effects from smart meters and other transmitting public utility meters. Transmitting natural gas meters nearly killed me, and I was really healthy before they were installed.

Transmitting and smart meters pulse radiofrequency radiation continuously, 24/7. Radiofrequency radiation (RFR) has "clear carcinogenic" effects, according to the recent National Toxicology Program's cellphone radiation study, and is hazardous to our health, according to a plethora of other peer-reviewed, published studies, (the Naval Medical Research did one in the 1970's, and NASA did one in the 1980's, but there are many, many more, and RFR continues to be studied and proven hazardous to health).

Some argue that the "dosage" of RFR is insignificant coming from transmitting and smart meters compared to a cell phone. Though with a cell phone, the exposure to high level pulses is not 24/7. Most people don't talk on their phone 24/7. They take a break to sleep.

With transmitting and smart meters, there is no "break".

Follow the money. Data is the new oil (very lucrative), and digital/transmitting/smart meters collect data, which can then be sold to the highest bidder.

Utility companies won't tell you that. They will (sometimes) assure you they are not selling your data. But we can no longer trust utility companies, especially monopoly utility companies. They can be the most nefarious of all. And the agencies that are supposed to regulate them are often as corrupt as the utility companies they are supposed to regulate.

And it's presumptive to say that some "homeowners have switched to smart meters with no problems at all" because cancers can take 10 to 20 years to develop.

Oh the tangled web...

April 28th Open Letter to Energy Policy Committee

On April 28th of this year, I sent the following "open letter - for the record" about a recent very one-sided news article on Analog Utility Meter Choice legislation in Michigan, to Representative Glenn, Chairman of the House Energy Policy Committee, and copied all the members of the committee:

Dear Representative Glenn,
This article was published yesterday by DEI (Daily Energy Insider):  Smart meters opt-out bill ready for Michigan House energy committee vote - Daily Energy Insider
Most customers of DTE Energy and Consumers Energy were not given the option of "opting-IN" to the smart and electronic metering program.
Consumers Energy claimed in their testimony that only a small percentage of customers "opted-OUT", yet they also admitted that a customer would have to go to their website and click on a tab having to do with "questions" in order to find any information about an "opt-out program".  It is no wonder so few opted-out.
Some customers have had electricity shut-off for refusing a "smart" meter, and have gone through two or more Michigan winters with no electricity.  They would most likely argue that thoughtfulness (per the article) was not, and has not, been used. Regardless of what DTE Energy and Consumers Energy say about privacy and cyber security, "smart" meters remain a "digital back door" to our homes and our personal lives via the wireless connection.
This article also mentioned that analog meters would cost customers more money to keep in place.  Neither DTE Energy nor Consumers Energy has offered to "show us the books" to prove this claim.  How could a system of metering that has been in place for decades (analog metering), suddenly cost "roughly $9 million more annually for energy"?
With analog choice, we are not asking for anything new or special.  We are simply asking for the continuation of a system of utility metering that does not infringe upon our property, and other personal rights.
Thank you for all you do to support this legislation.
Sincerely,
Jeanine Susan Deal

Just the Facts, Man

In response to this news article:  Michigan 'smart meter' hearing elicits fears, this is what I wrote to the Editor of the Detroit News and the author of the article:

Dear Editor and Mike Gerstein (writer),

"Studies" may have shown our "concerns are unfounded", however experience has not.

Michigan has never before had over 2 million so-called "smart" and/or electronic public utility meters installed.  Ever.  So logically, experience should override "studies".

And there's a big difference between experience, and fears.  Take a look at the testimonies of people who attended the 2014 Michigan Oversight Committee hearing on smart meters.  They were talking about experience, for the most part.  Not fears.

As was stated at yesterday's Energy Committee hearing, industry-funded studies predominantly "don't show any associated health risks."  While NON-industry-funded studies DO show "associated health risks."  So who are you going to believe?

DTE's opt-out fees are HIGHER than you reported, and even the digital opt-out meter collects granulated data that is downloaded by DTE when they read the meter.

And Kurmas admitted that it was like "standing next to their old analog meter."  Some consider this an invasion of privacy, that the utility company will be able to know exactly how much electricity one is using, and exactly when.

You wrote, "it's not clear if the meters pose an increased cancer risk."  So who is the utility company to determine if I want to subject myself to a possible increased risk of cancer?

I can choose to expose myself to the radiofrequency radiation of a cell phone, or not.  I can choose to expose myself to the potentially carcinogenic effects of cigarette smoke, or not.  I would like to RETAIN the RIGHT to choose my (potential) carcinogens, and smart meters emit a potential carcinogen.

The "older equipment" lasts at least twice as long as the new equipment, smart meters, so when utility companies talk about "maintaining older equipment," they're talking about LESS maintenance than smart meters.

HB 4220 would not only protect my property rights, it would protect my privacy and my right to choose the carcinogens I'm exposed to.

Michigan's New Public Utility Rules Hearing

Below is a close approximation of what I said at the Michigan Public Service Commission hearing on September 22, 2016, regarding the new rules for Michigan natural gas and electric utility customers.

About 35 people spoke.  A lot of those who spoke have been harmed by new public utility meters (digital, "smart", AMI, AMR ERT), and a few severely disabled by them.

Time will tell if our comments will fall on deaf ears.  Is corporatocracy alive and well in Michigan? We will see...

This is regarding Case No. U-18120

It is my view that "Full disclosure by public utility companies to customers regarding equipment" must be added to the "Consumer Standards and Billing Practices for Electric and Natural Gas Service" Rules.
If a public utility customer asks any questions about metering technology, the public utility company must be obliged to give all the information possible on the equipment, to the customer.
I argue that public utility customers have a right to know exactly what public utility companies propose to install on homes and businesses.
This is my view because:  Instead of telling us that their new AMR ERT natural gas meters transmitted over 450,000 times per month, our natural gas provider told us that they transmit only once per month.  That's a huge discrepancy, in my opinion.  Had they been obliged to give us full disclosure, we would have refused installation.
I was already avoiding cell phone use because of a sensitivity I had developed to radiofrequency radiation, so had our natural gas provider told us their new AMR ERT meters pulsed radiofrequency radiation over 450,000 times per month, we would have refused installation.
According to the proposed new Rules, our natural gas provider could have then turned our natural gas service off, right then and there, without notice.
It is my opinion that here in Michigan, that rule could prove to be catastrophic for public utility customers.  In the winter with below freezing temperatures, if gas or electricity is shut-off, it could be just a matter of hours before pipes begin freezing and bursting, leading to loss of property.
It is my view a minimum of a 21-day notice must be given to public utility customers prior to any shut-off, for any reason.
It is also my view that an "Analog Meter Choice" be added to the new Rules.  As evidenced by the Oversight Committee Hearing in December of 2014, and perhaps about half of the people here today, there is a growing number of people in Michigan unable to tolerate new metering technology.  I can not tolerate new AMR ERT meters, but our natural gas providers have no analog choice.
I argue that it is our right to choose what radiofrequency radiation and electromagnetic field emitting devices are in, and/or on, our homes.
Thank you.

That's Right, Folks!

Consumers Energy in Michigan is about to pull-out the stops and get even meaner.

"Even meaner?  How could this be?  Say it isn't so!"

It is so, folks.  Soon we will have no choice but to accept new non-analog utility meters from Consumers Energy, the kind of meters that are making some people in Michigan sick.  And it's not just Michigan people getting sick from new utility meters.  Some people all around the world have been getting sick from these new, non-analog utility meters.  Be they so-called 'smart' meters or 'opt-out' meters.  Utility companies have been calling their new meters all kinds of things.  One thing they all have in common, these new utility meters, is that they've all been making some people sick, even children.  And soon Consumers Energy in Michigan will give us no choice but to accept one of these new non-analog meters.

"New utility meters are making some people sick, yet they're still being installed?!"

That's right, folks.

"How could this be?  Aren't public utility companies regulated or something like that?"

That's right, folks, they are.  But those things, those commissions, groups, organizations, and committees don't seem to be helping us out or making a hill of beans of difference when we want to refuse the installation of one of these new non-analog meters.  Good citizens, people like you and me, are refusing these new meters, and for good reasons, but it hasn't been doing us much good.

"Not much good?  You mean I can't say 'no' to one of these new meters that makes some people sick?"

That's right, folks.  Saying 'no' wont do you any good.  Come next year, Consumers Energy plans to offer only new non-analog meters (so-called 'smart' meters or digital 'opt-out' meters), and both are making some people sick.  Consumers Energy is not recognizing people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity, not recognizing that some people actually do get sick from their new meters.  And some utility companies have actually been forcing these meters on customers.

"Forcing?  Violently?"

I haven't seen any violence to the utility customers regarding these new meter installations, though I have seen power being cut and installers breaking down doors in order to install one of these new meters.

"Breaking down doors?!"

That's right, folks.

"Like criminals?!  And getting away with it?!"

That's right, folks.  Like criminals.  And getting away with it.  Shenanigans, I tell you!

Hard to believe, I know.  But the truth is that public utility companies are getting away with breaking down doors, lying, deceiving, and forcing people to accept one of these new meters on their homes, or cutting off their power if they don't agree to having one installed.  Even when people tell the utility company that the new meter is making them sick, they don't seem to care one iota.  Some utility companies tell you flat out that they will remove the new meter if you want, but cut-off your public utility service in the process.

"Cut off public utility service if we don't want a new meter that is making some people sick?!  And nobody's doing anything about this?"

Well, some people are doing things.  Some are filing lawsuits with our judicial system and taking public utility companies to court.  However, so far, from what I've heard, the public utility companies are coming out on top.  Seems like the courts are protecting the interests of the public utility companies and not protecting the citizens who are getting sick, or who just don't want one of these new meters for any other reason.

"So the courts aren't even helping us?"

That's right, folks.  At least not so far.

"Is there anything we can do to help resolve this unbelievable situation here in Michigan?"

Thanks for asking!  In fact, there is...

A group of Michigan State Representatives have introduced and co-sponsored a Bill (fancy name for a law) that would allow all utility customers to have a choice between an analog utility meter (the safer kind that's been used since your grandparents, possibly your great-grandparents, were wee-little-ones), and the new non-analog utility meters (those that are making some people sick, have also been known to explode or catch fire, and sometimes drastically over-charge utility customers, creating a real mess that some customers are finding difficult to resolve with their utility companies).

So if you want to help stop the shenanigans perpetrated by public utility companies in regards to new utility meters, and want to retain your right to choose what exactly is installed on your home, I urge you to ruffle some feathers:

1.  Contact your current State Representative and politely ask them to support House Bill 4916, the Utility Meter Choice Bill.  If you're really ambitious, contact each and every State Representative in Michigan.  If you're contacting one of the co-sponsors to HB4916, thank them profusely!

2.  Share this message with everyone you know in Michigan.  And ask them to share this message with everyone they know in Michigan.

3.  Sign-up to receive newsletters and updates from the Smart Meter Education Network here in Michigan, to stay in-the-know about what's going on in regards to the shenanigans perpetrated by our public utility companies.

Remember, folks, we're all in this together.  Not everyone seems to be getting sick from these new non-analog utility meters.  Those who are getting sick are being called 'canaries in the coal mine,' it's like they're an early warning sign.  And as far as coal miners go, they knew that once the canaries were gone, they were next.

Of course, you can choose to do nothing in regards to this matter.  Just remember, though, that by taking no action in regards to these shenanigans, you're giving your silent consent to what's going on.  Is that really what you want to do, when people are getting sick?  It is your choice.

Peace.

Corrections, Psychics & Evidence of Health Effects

Following are my comments given during the Tuesday, March 15, 2016 Battle Creek, Michigan, City Commission meeting...

Consent Agenda Comment

During Commission Comments, Perry Hart (the Director of Public Works in Battle Creek) was asked about House Bill 4916 and he gave some incorrect information.  I'd like to correct that.

The House Bill doesn't just address Consumer's Energy (electricity provider in Battle Creek), the Bill addresses all of Michigan (public) utility companies who are utilizing wireless technology (in their meters).  (House Bill 4916) is a bipartisan supported Bill, with 13% of Michigan State Representatives supporting it.  Four Democrats and 10 Republicans are co-sponsors on this Bill.  So I just wanted to clarify that it addresses all wireless utility meters, not just Consumers Energy.  It would be Consumers Energy, SEMCO Energy (our natural gas provider), Battle Creek Water Department, you name it.

Also, Mr. Hart referred to FCC requirements as the, quote-unquote, "safety net" they are installing smart meters under.  It must be noted that the FCC is not a health regulation agency and it must also be noted that the FCC's allowable levels of radio frequency radiation are among the highest in the world.  The United States is among the highest in the world.

And then, I spoke to Rene' Stoia, Deputy City Clerk in Marysville (Michigan), and she said that their Resolution addressed their electric company, DTE, because that's who the citizens were concerned about.  She also said that they sent their Resolution for a no-fee, analog (utility meter) opt-out choice for all their residents, to Michigan State Legislators, and that, (quote), "Hopefully they will do something about this."

One more thing: City Manager said during this discussion (about Marysville), quote, "Very different composition demographics and the provision of utility service than the City of Battle Creek, they don't have a provision of utility services," or something like that.  I didn't quite understand what that meant.  So if you can explain that?  (I've been told that city officials do not have to answer any questions from the public, and so far, City Manager Rebecca Fleury hasn't clarified that statement for me.)

I do want to thank both Commissioner Faris and Flores for supporting a little more detail in the minutes regarding Public Comments.  Thank you.

Adoption of Ordinance Comment

I would really appreciate it if you did not pass this Ordinance.  I referred to it last week as the "censorship ordinance."  No matter how you cut it, when you do the numbers, it's a 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to comment at City Commission meetings.  And like others have said, if you welcome public comment, you're not showing it in your deeds by passing this ordinance, because a 27% reduction in the comment time is not welcoming.  It's welcoming 27% less comments.  So I would appreciate it if you did not pass this ordinance as it is.

The way (the proposed Ordinance) was worded, and I don't have it with me, but it was worded such that, "we do not anticipate that this will infringe upon public participation."  Something like that.

And my argument is, unless you're psychic, and can see the future, and know who's going to say what, when; you can not anticipate who is going to participate.  Did you anticipate that I was going to come here and talk about smart meters six, seven, however many months ago?  I don't think so.  You probably wish I didn't!

A 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to make a comment is a form of censorship.

General Public Comment

This is regarding health effects from the City of Battle Creek Water Department's wireless smart meters, as well as the smart meters from other (public) utility providers in Battle Creek: Consumers Energy and SEMCO Energy...

The number of signatories continues to grow, and currently there are two-hundred and twenty scientists (medical doctors, public health physicians, PhD's, university professors, engineers, and other scientific professionals), who have put their name, their credentials, their reputation on the line by signing this Appeal to the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and the United Nations Member States.  You can view this Appeal online at EMFScientist.org.  I would like to quote a little of it here:
"We are scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF).  Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices.  These include - but are not limited to - radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitting devices, such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors..."
"Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines.  Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans.  Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life."
At this point I would like to bring your attention to an article published by Oxford University Press, Oxford Journals, Neuro-Oncology: American Brain Tumor Association - Adolescent andYoung Adult Primary Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors Diagnosed in the United States in 2008-2012.

This analysis shows that brain tumors are now the most frequent form of cancer in adolescents in the United States.  And it's our adolescents today who have grown up with increasing numbers of cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, baby monitors, and now smart meters.

This Oxford Journal analysis confirms
what these EMF scientists are saying about health effects.

Thank you for listening.  May you all truly be blessed!

Some after thoughts...

DTE, the electric company that Marysville's Resolution covers, has a history of shutting-off power to some customers who refuse smart meters.  The Resolution Marysville passed was a  very smart move, to nip that shutting-off-power sh*t in the bud.

October 20th Battle Creek City Commission Meeting

Once again, I spoke about smart meters at the City Commission meeting.  Public comments are limited to only three minutes, so I try to pack the most amount of information in, which is why I don't go into much detail, but have posted the links to the studies I mentioned.  The video of the meeting is here, and I start speaking at about 74:37.  While the buzzer is still buzzing, the Mayor addresses the audience, though I finish my speech before the buzzer ends.  Below is a script of what I said:
My comment is regarding the new utility meters the City of Battle Creek Water Department, Consumers Energy, and SEMCO Energy have been installing on our homes, which utilize radio frequencies. The following two studies are from PubMed.gov, a website of biomedical literature:
Electromagnetic hypersensitivity - an increasing challenge to the medical profession: Some people exposed to electromagnetic radiation, including the frequencies utilized by the new water meters, develop Electromagnetic hypersensitivity. While some cannot discriminate between an active radio frequency signal and placebo, others showed observable changes following exposure; reactions in the pupil, changes in heart rhythm, damage to red blood cells, and disturbed glucose metabolism in the brain.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26372109
Self-reporting of symptom development from exposure to radiofrequency fields of wireless smart meters in Victoria, Australia: a case series: Shows the most frequently reported symptoms to be insomnia, headaches, tinnitus, fatigue, cognitive disturbances, abnormal sensations, and dizziness, and pointed to the possibility that smart meters may have unique characteristics that lower people's threshold for symptom development.  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25478801
Comments on the Draft Report by the California Council on Science & Technology “Health Impacts of Radio Frequency from Smart Meters,” by Daniel Hirsh, Nuclear Expert & Lecturer, University of California, Santa Cruz: Showing that smart meters produce between 50 & 160 times more cumulative whole body exposure than the cell phone.  http://www.committeetobridgethegap.org/pdf/110212_RFrad_comments.pdf
The fact remains that the new radio frequency smart utility meters have not been proven safe, yet evidence they cause harm continues to grow.

The fact is that we have not gone one generation using the level of wireless devices we are today, so we humans are the guinea pigs in this very first long-term study, with many of us already suffering the consequences of unproven to be safe technology.
The fact is that the Water Department has been working on an “opt-out” program for over three months now. I can understand how it may be difficult to word an opt-out program for something that many of us were forced into in the first place. But the bottom line is, we just want them removed.
Thank you for listening. May you all be blessed.

If You Live In Michigan...

If you live in Michigan, the time to do something

about your freedom of choice is now!

[Updated October 31, 2019: If you live in Michigan, please see THIS post.  Thank you!  As of today, we are working on getting new legislation for analog utility meter choice re-introduced.]

Utility companies in Michigan are installing wireless "Smart Meters" all across our state, sometimes without our knowledge and/or consent.  This is a violation of our fundamental property rights, yet they are getting away with it!

[Update: Some companies are saying that they do not utilize "smart meter" technology in their gas meters.  However, I have personally found that what they are are calling AMR - ERT (automatic read - encoder receiver transmitter) natural gas meters, extremely harmful to my health, eliciting many adverse symptoms.  When asked for proof that their devices are safe, they sent me propaganda from the manufacturer, those who stand to profit from the AMR - ERT devices.]

Because I am sensitive to radio frequencies (found out in 2013 with a cell phone), this is very disturbing.  Not everyone is electrosensitive, but about 10% of the population have more adverse effects, while 35% have less adverse effects and may not even know they are being affected by radio frequencies.

There are lots of propaganda charts circulating that state smart meters emit only a fraction of the radiation of a cell phone. That statement is not proven and is being challenged by professionals.

The radiation from Smart Meters

may be about 100 times that of cell phones...

This video of Daniel Hirsch, California radiation expert, and UCSD instructor, and this video of Professor Glenn Chase, faculty alum at USC, California State, Monterey Institute of International Studies and Naval Post-Graduate School, explains why the radiation from a Smart Meters is about 100 times that of a cell phone.

It's no wonder my "phone ear" started hurting again after SEMCO Energy lied to us three times in order to install two of their AMR meters here, meters that pulse over 10 times per minute, over 600 times per hour.

There are no studies proving the safety of smart meters,
while evidence continues to surface
saying they are not so safe.

When asked about the safety of smart meters, utility companies, including the City of Battle Creek Water Department and SEMCO Energy, send out propaganda from the manufacturer of the smart meters.  And now the City of Battle Creek Water Department admits that they are not in possession of any studies proving the safety of their new wireless water meters.

There are several other issues with Smart Meters.  Many are concerned about their safety because Smart Meters have been known to catch fire and/or explode.

There was a house fire in Portage, MI, on Bellaire, where witnesses and the owner of the home explained that the new smart meter, installed only a few days prior, was the first thing they saw on fire.  However, the Fire Marshal ruled the smart meter out as the cause of the fire (which has been a common scenario when a fire starts after smart meter installation).

Smart metering is a hackable system and will put our privacy at risk.  (Analog meters are not hackable.)
Here's an article about how the FBI found "smart meter hacking surprisingly easy."

Even if you're already called your representative in the past regarding electronic utility meters, they haven't heard from enough of us yet!

We've had the old 100% analog meters for over 50 years with none of these concerns.  Why "fix" something that's not broken, with something that is unproven to be safe on many levels?
It's not too late to let your representative know how you feel, even if you already have an electronic and/or smart meter!

It took me about two minutes to call my Michigan State Representatives - Please do the same!

Find your Michigan State Representative here by using your address and zip code.  Call anytime, evenings or weekends if you just want to leave a message, yet still, have your voice heard.

Phone calls carry more weight than emails. If you want to write, call first, then follow-up in writing.

Our representatives are here to represent us,
it's their job!

Always be respectful. Here's what you can say:
  • Hello, my name is ___________, and I'm one of your constituents / I live in (city / county).
  • I'm calling about the no-fee Analog Utility Meter Choice Bill now in the Energy Policy Committee.
  • I want you to support this legislation that will protect my property rights and give me a safe and reliable analog meter choice.
  • Also, please speak to your colleagues in the Energy Policy Committee and encourage them to support this Bill, because it's for The People.
  • Thank you!
It's very simple to do, and our State Representatives need to hear from us in order to know how we feel.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need help finding your state representative, I'd be happy to help you!

Time is of the essence! Please make that call now!

Thank you and bless you!

Battle Creek City Commission Meeting September 15, 2015

A video recording of the September 15, 2015 Battle Creek City Commission meeting is here.  I begin speaking at about 74:55 minutes in.

Here is the script of what I said:

My issue is with the smart meters the water department and all of the utility companies that service Battle Creek are installing, despite the mounting evidence that smart meters are of no value to customers, and actually bring significant privacy, health, safety, and security issues.

Industry has failed to report peer-reviewed studies on the health effects of smart meters, though there is a growing body of independent research accumulating, proving ill effects.

Michael R. Peevey, former senior executive at Pacific Gas & Electric, wrote in a leaked email:  “There really are people who feel pain… related to EMF… ”

In the news, Southboro, MA, the parents of a 12-year-old boy are suing his boarding school, stating that their son has “Electromagnetic HypersensitivitySyndrome,” and has suffered headaches, nosebleeds and nausea since the school activated a stronger wireless signal in 2013.  Children usually don’t make-up those kind of symptoms.

Dr. Deitrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD, Founder of the American Academy of Neural Therapy, Medical Director of the Institute of Neurobiology, lead clinician at the Sophia Health Institute, Founder and Chairman of the Institute for Neurobiology in Germany and Switzerland, has said:  “A body of more than 6,000 studies has been accumulated since the 1930’s, producing an overwhelming conclusion that exposure to microwave and electromagnetic fields is significantly harmful to all health and life itself.”

Live Blood Analysis shows, when exposed to smart meters, degradation and mutations of the live blood cells; a corrugation, called “bottle-cap formation,” known to occur due to oxidation and free radicals; and rouleaux, which causes the red blood cells to stack up, and makes it very difficult for the blood to deliver oxygen to the tissues.  That would explain headaches from smart meters that myself and other people are reporting.

It is morally unconscionable for ANY utility company to make a profit at the expense of the health and safety of the population they are serving.  And that is why I have a couple of questions (for the City of Battle Creek government):

What evidence do you have of the safety of the new utility meters, all of them, water, gas and electric, other than what comes from the manufacturer?

And do you have any independent third-party testing showing, or proving that the new utility meters are indeed perfectly safe?

Thank you for listening.  May you all be blessed.

Utility Companies, Lies, Deceptions, Cover-Ups & Fires

If the employees and agents of SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company are telling everyone what they told me, that their new utility meters only "wake-up" once a month when the meter reader drives by, they are being very misleading.  David Williams, SEMCO GAS Regional Operation Manager, wrote something quite different about their new utility meters in an email to me:

"The device... transmits in very short pulses of 5.86 milliseconds
for a total of about 1.5 minutes per day."

And of course, I did the math.  My mother's father, Buppa, would be proud of me.  He was quite the mathematician and one of the things we did together when I was younger was solve algebra problems.  I enjoyed math, and he did too.  So here's the math on the new gas meters:

1.5 minutes of pulses per day = 90,000 milliseconds of pulses per day

90,000 milliseconds of pulses per day (divided by)
5.86 milliseconds per pulse
= 15,358.36 pulses per day of 5.86 milliseconds per pulse

15,358.36 pulses per day of 5.86 milliseconds per pulse (divided by)
24 hours in the day
= 639.93 pulses per hour of 5.86 milliseconds each

639.93 pulses per hour of 5.86 milliseconds each (divided by)
60 minutes in an hour

= 10.67 pulses PER MINUTE of 5.86 milliseconds each

It's no wonder my "phone ear" started hurting again after about six months of being pulsed by that meter.  And it's no wonder other "symptoms" of electromagnetic sensitivity (Microwave Sickness) began to occur, such as sleeplessness, extreme tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and achy joints.

The GOOD news is that last night we wrapped a lead sheet around as much of the gas smart meter as possible, and all of those symptoms lessened!

Two days ago I left a phone message for David Williams, requesting a call back to schedule when he or one of SEMCO's employees or agents could come here and replace their pulse generating smart meter with a 100% analog/100% mechanical meter, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

And it occurred to me that Consumers Energy, our electric provider, wants us to pay about $200 in the first year to "opt-out" of their smart meter program (which is actually backwards because we never "opted-in" in the first place).

But if Consumers DOES charge us about $200 in the first year to not have a smart meter installed, what would stop SEMCO Energy (gas) from also charging us $200 to "opt-out," and what would stop the City of Battle Creek Water Department from also charging us $200 to "opt-out?"  That would be around $600 per year to utility companies for absolutely nothing.  Well, not really nothing.  It would be paying them to keep microwave radiation pulsing utility meters away, that's what it would be paying for.  Paying the utility companies to not harm me...

After Matthew D. Miller at the City of Battle Creek Water Department explained that the new utility meters were going to be labor saving for them, I asked if our water bills were going down.  He answered with a swift and immediate, "No!"  I later found out that the City of Battle Creek City Commissioners approved a 5% increase to water bills every year for 5 years, which, when you do the math, turns out to be a 28% total increase due to compounding.

So who stands to benefit from these new meters, anyway?  Not me.  Not you, unless you're a utility company.

After talking to numerous people about the new "smart" utility meters that are being installed all across Michigan by all of our utility companies, I found that not only has Battle Creek done an EXCELLENT job of keeping the citizens in the dark about the deployment of these new meters, but our media and press has also.

Searching the Battle Creek Enquirer for "smart meter" brings up nothing, no news stories about the new utility meters that are sometimes being forced, and sometimes being deceptively installed, onto our properties.  Who's not reporting the news around here?

A month or so back I wrote a letter to the Battle Creek Enquirer about smart meters.  The letter was edited down to a fraction of it's original size and returned to me for approval.  I explained to the Editor, Michael McCullough, that my strongest points were edited out, and submitted a rewrite, which was never published.

The Battle Creek Current, the city's newsletter that comes periodically in water bills, did announce Consumers Energy's new meters, but they did not call them "smart," even though they are.  The new meters are being called all kinds of things now.  Perhaps they are avoiding the word "smart" due to some bad press.

Another thing: I've read several news stories of smart meter fires where the smart meter was ruled out as the cause of the fire, and the blame was put on the homeowner, for having older, worn-out wiring immediately BEHIND the smart meter. This gives us reason to stop an electric smart meter installation by demanding the electric company give us time to have a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to installation, lest they (the electric company) be grossly negligent and held 100% responsible if they do not allow us the time to arrange for such an inspection.

May we all be blessed!
