That's Right, Folks!

Consumers Energy in Michigan is about to pull-out the stops and get even meaner.

"Even meaner?  How could this be?  Say it isn't so!"

It is so, folks.  Soon we will have no choice but to accept new non-analog utility meters from Consumers Energy, the kind of meters that are making some people in Michigan sick.  And it's not just Michigan people getting sick from new utility meters.  Some people all around the world have been getting sick from these new, non-analog utility meters.  Be they so-called 'smart' meters or 'opt-out' meters.  Utility companies have been calling their new meters all kinds of things.  One thing they all have in common, these new utility meters, is that they've all been making some people sick, even children.  And soon Consumers Energy in Michigan will give us no choice but to accept one of these new non-analog meters.

"New utility meters are making some people sick, yet they're still being installed?!"

That's right, folks.

"How could this be?  Aren't public utility companies regulated or something like that?"

That's right, folks, they are.  But those things, those commissions, groups, organizations, and committees don't seem to be helping us out or making a hill of beans of difference when we want to refuse the installation of one of these new non-analog meters.  Good citizens, people like you and me, are refusing these new meters, and for good reasons, but it hasn't been doing us much good.

"Not much good?  You mean I can't say 'no' to one of these new meters that makes some people sick?"

That's right, folks.  Saying 'no' wont do you any good.  Come next year, Consumers Energy plans to offer only new non-analog meters (so-called 'smart' meters or digital 'opt-out' meters), and both are making some people sick.  Consumers Energy is not recognizing people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity, not recognizing that some people actually do get sick from their new meters.  And some utility companies have actually been forcing these meters on customers.  

"Forcing?  Violently?"

I haven't seen any violence to the utility customers regarding these new meter installations, though I have seen power being cut and installers breaking down doors in order to install one of these new meters.

"Breaking down doors?!"

That's right, folks.

"Like criminals?!  And getting away with it?!"

That's right, folks.  Like criminals.  And getting away with it.  Shenanigans, I tell you!  

Hard to believe, I know.  But the truth is that public utility companies are getting away with breaking down doors, lying, deceiving, and forcing people to accept one of these new meters on their homes, or cutting off their power if they don't agree to having one installed.  Even when people tell the utility company that the new meter is making them sick, they don't seem to care one iota.  Some utility companies tell you flat out that they will remove the new meter if you want, but cut-off your public utility service in the process.

"Cut off public utility service if we don't want a new meter that is making some people sick?!  And nobody's doing anything about this?"

Well, some people are doing things.  Some are filing lawsuits with our judicial system and taking public utility companies to court.  However, so far, from what I've heard, the public utility companies are coming out on top.  Seems like the courts are protecting the interests of the public utility companies and not protecting the citizens who are getting sick, or who just don't want one of these new meters for any other reason.

"So the courts aren't even helping us?"

That's right, folks.  At least not so far.

"Is there anything we can do to help resolve this unbelievable situation here in Michigan?"

Thanks for asking!  In fact, there is... 

A group of Michigan State Representatives have introduced and co-sponsored a Bill (fancy name for a law) that would allow all utility customers to have a choice between an analog utility meter (the safer kind that's been used since your grandparents, possibly your great-grandparents, were wee-little-ones), and the new non-analog utility meters (those that are making some people sick, have also been known to explode or catch fire, and sometimes drastically over-charge utility customers, creating a real mess that some customers are finding difficult to resolve with their utility companies).

So if you want to help stop the shenanigans perpetrated by public utility companies in regards to new utility meters, and want to retain your right to choose what exactly is installed on your home, I urge you to ruffle some feathers:

1.  Contact your current State Representative and politely ask them to support House Bill 4916, the Utility Meter Choice Bill.  If you're really ambitious, contact each and every State Representative in Michigan.  If you're contacting one of the co-sponsors to HB4916, thank them profusely!

2.  Share this message with everyone you know in Michigan.  And ask them to share this message with everyone they know in Michigan.

3.  Sign-up to receive newsletters and updates from the Smart Meter Education Network here in Michigan, to stay in-the-know about what's going on in regards to the shenanigans perpetrated by our public utility companies.

Remember, folks, we're all in this together.  Not everyone seems to be getting sick from these new non-analog utility meters.  Those who are getting sick are being called 'canaries in the coal mine,' it's like they're an early warning sign.  And as far as coal miners go, they knew that once the canaries were gone, they were next.

Of course, you can choose to do nothing in regards to this matter.  Just remember, though, that by taking no action in regards to these shenanigans, you're giving your silent consent to what's going on.  Is that really what you want to do, when people are getting sick?  It is your choice.

Agreeing to Disagree

My general public comment to the City of Battle Creek City Commissioners on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, went as follows:

I met a retired police officer, now a security guard at our State Capitol in Lansing, who advised me that Chief Blocker (the Battle Creek Chief of Police) could help keep unsafe smart meters (AMI and AMR ERT meters) off our homes.  I hope that is true!

Battle Creek seems to be having a hard time calling new public utility meters "smart meters," as evidenced by this March story:  Water Division on schedule with new device installation.  Nowhere in the article is the word "smart" used.

This chart (above) shows that smart meters and cell phones operate in the same range, 900MHz to 2.4GHz.

Perry Hart, Director of Public Works here is Battle Creek has confirmed that the smart meters they are installing for water service operate within this frequency as well.  (See page 9 here.)  He also explained how the new water meters pulse 257 times per hour, non-stop.  (Mr. Hart's presentation explained how the new water meters pulse every 14 seconds, which translates to 257 times per hour.)

Unlike cell phones, which can be turned off, smart meters are never "off,' which is why radiation expert Daniel Hirsch says one smart meter may be like being exposed to 50 or more cell phones.

We haven't heard it from the Battle Creek Enquirer, yet, but there's been lots of news stories about a new study that links cell phone use to cancer:

Children are more vulnerable to cell phone and smart meter radiation because their skulls are thinner and smaller, allowing the radiation to penetrate deeper into tissues.

Both Commissioner Sherzer and Commissioner Gray have said to me that we need to agree to disagree on this issue.

When I agree to disagree with you, my decision basically only affects me.

When you (the City Commissioners of Battle Creek) agree to disagree with me, your decision affects every man, woman, and child in Battle Creek.

House Bill 4916 (the Utility Meter Choice Bill in Michigan) has fourteen co-sponsors in Lansing, both Democrats and Republicans.  Please support this potentially live-saving legislation.

For the Health, Safety & Welfare of the Citizens

After finding out about all the Resolutions that have recently been passed, modeling House Bill 4916, Utility Meter Choice, via Michigan's Smart Meter Education Network newsletter, I wrote the City of Battle Creek officials about it last night:

Dear Mayor Walters, Vice Mayor Baldwin, Commissioner Owens, Commissioner Gray, Commissioner Flores, Commissioner Sherzer, Commissioner Behnke, Commissioner Faris, and Commissioner Helmboldt, 

On April 28, 2016, the County of Lapeer, Michigan, passed a Resolution modeling HB4916 for Utility Meter Choice with no-fees for opt-out.  Here is a copy of their Resolution:  http://bit.ly/1XdoXpt

These are counties and communities that are concerned about the health effects from wireless/smart meters and are taking action.  I urge you to also pass a Resolution modeling HB4916, to give all public utility customers the choice to keep their old analog utility meter that had none of the concerns wireless/smart meters have, without having to pay additional fees to do so. 

Wireless/smart meters nearly killed me.  That is why I am so passionate about this issue.  It is becoming more and more clear that I'm not the only one in Michigan who has experienced adverse health effects from wireless/smart meters. 

Will you please pass a Resolution modeling HB4916, as more and more communities in Michigan are doing, for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens?

Requesting A Resolution

April 19, 2016, to the City of Battle Creek City Commission I said:

I'm here to ask you to pass a Resolution, as most recently Marysville, Michigan did, and now Columbiaville, Michigan has.   A Resolution modeling Michigan House Bill 4916, the Utility Meter Choice Bill, that allows all public utility customers to opt-out of wireless metering technology, commonly known as smart metering, though wireless gas meters are neither "smart," nor called "smart."  Wireless gas meters are called AMR meters, and like other wireless public utility meters, they pulse radio frequency radiation in the microwave range 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, non-stop. 

On April 11th, just over one week ago, the village of Columbiaville, Michigan, northeast of Lansing, joined the growing list of Michigan communities to pass Resolutions supporting their citizens in their desire to have a free choice in regards to wireless public utility metering. 

Citing privacy concerns, Columbiaville's Resolution states:"Smart meters are overly intrusive into their energy usage." 

Citing health concerns, Columbiaville's Resolution states:"...emissions from smart meters are actually dangerous to their health." 

Columbiaville has forwarded House Bill 4916, the Utility Meter Choice Bill, to the Michigan Committee on Energy Policy, and has called upon State Representative and Chairman Aric Nesbitt, the Michigan Public service Commission, Attorney General Bill Schuette, State Senator Mike Green, and State Representative Gary Howell to take all regulatory procedures needed to investigate their concerns about health and welfare. 

Gas, electric, and water wireless smart meters come with a history of problems, from chronically overcharging customers, starting fires, being an open-door at our homes for hackers, and destroying people's health. 

Columbiaville, Michigan, now supports their citizen's ability to keep their old, safe, and time-tested analog utility meters, and to opt-out of the new wireless smart metering programs without suffering financial penalties or monthly charges. 

Please join Columbiaville, Marysville, and the growing list of Michigan communities concerned about these real issues with smart meters. Please pass a Resolution modeling House Bill 4916, for a no-fee analog utility meter choice.

Corrections, Psychics & Evidence of Health Effects

Following are my comments given during the Tuesday, March 15, 2016 Battle Creek, Michigan, City Commission meeting...

Consent Agenda Comment

During Commission Comments, Perry Hart (the Director of Public Works in Battle Creek) was asked about House Bill 4916 and he gave some incorrect information.  I'd like to correct that.  

The House Bill doesn't just address Consumer's Energy (electricity provider in Battle Creek), the Bill addresses all of Michigan (public) utility companies who are utilizing wireless technology (in their meters).  (House Bill 4916) is a bipartisan supported Bill, with 13% of Michigan State Representatives supporting it.  Four Democrats and 10 Republicans are co-sponsors on this Bill.  So I just wanted to clarify that it addresses all wireless utility meters, not just Consumers Energy.  It would be Consumers Energy, SEMCO Energy (our natural gas provider), Battle Creek Water Department, you name it.

Also, Mr. Hart referred to FCC requirements as the, quote-unquote, "safety net" they are installing smart meters under.  It must be noted that the FCC is not a health regulation agency and it must also be noted that the FCC's allowable levels of radio frequency radiation are among the highest in the world.  The United States is among the highest in the world.  

And then, I spoke to Rene' Stoia, Deputy City Clerk in Marysville (Michigan), and she said that their Resolution addressed their electric company, DTE, because that's who the citizens were concerned about.  She also said that they sent their Resolution for a no-fee, analog (utility meter) opt-out choice for all their residents, to Michigan State Legislators, and that, (quote), "Hopefully they will do something about this."

One more thing: City Manager said during this discussion (about Marysville), quote, "Very different composition demographics and the provision of utility service than the City of Battle Creek, they don't have a provision of utility services," or something like that.  I didn't quite understand what that meant.  So if you can explain that?  (I've been told that city officials do not have to answer any questions from the public, and so far, City Manager Rebecca Fleury hasn't clarified that statement for me.)

I do want to thank both Commissioner Faris and Flores for supporting a little more detail in the minutes regarding Public Comments.  Thank you.

Adoption of Ordinance Comment

I would really appreciate it if you did not pass this Ordinance.  I referred to it last week as the "censorship ordinance."  No matter how you cut it, when you do the numbers, it's a 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to comment at City Commission meetings.  And like others have said, if you welcome public comment, you're not showing it in your deeds by passing this ordinance, because a 27% reduction in the comment time is not welcoming.  It's welcoming 27% less comments.  So I would appreciate it if you did not pass this ordinance as it is.  

The way (the proposed Ordinance) was worded, and I don't have it with me, but it was worded such that, "we do not anticipate that this will infringe upon public participation."  Something like that.

And my argument is, unless you're psychic, and can see the future, and know who's going to say what, when; you can not anticipate who is going to participate.  Did you anticipate that I was going to come here and talk about smart meters six, seven, however many months ago?  I don't think so.  You probably wish I didn't!

A 27% reduction in the opportunity for the public to make a comment is a form of censorship.

General Public Comment

This is regarding health effects from the City of Battle Creek Water Department's wireless smart meters, as well as the smart meters from other (public) utility providers in Battle Creek: Consumers Energy and SEMCO Energy...

The number of signatories continues to grow, and currently there are two-hundred and twenty scientists (medical doctors, public health physicians, PhD's, university professors, engineers, and other scientific professionals), who have put their name, their credentials, their reputation on the line by signing this Appeal to the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and the United Nations Member States.  You can view this Appeal online at EMFScientist.org.  I would like to quote a little of it here:

"We are scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF).  Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices.  These include - but are not limited to - radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitting devices, such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors..."

"Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most international and national guidelines.  Effects include increased cancer risk, cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damages, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on general well-being in humans.  Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life."

At this point I would like to bring your attention to an article published by Oxford University Press, Oxford Journals, Neuro-Oncology: American Brain Tumor Association - Adolescent andYoung Adult Primary Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors Diagnosed in the United States in 2008-2012.

This analysis shows that brain tumors are now the most frequent form of cancer in adolescents in the United States.  And it's our adolescents today who have grown up with increasing numbers of cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, baby monitors, and now smart meters.

Some after thoughts...

DTE, the electric company that Marysville's Resolution covers, has a history of shutting-off power to some customers who refuse smart meters.  The Resolution Marysville passed was a  very smart move, to nip that shutting-off-power sh*t in the bud.  

Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Update: Are The Dogs Affected Also?

A few weeks ago I wondered if I was not the only one showing signs of electromagnetic hypersensitivity.  At first it was Ashling, and then Comet...

One evening as I was sitting and reading, Ashling, an Australian Shepherd, fell asleep near my feet, as she often does.  In the past I have witnessed her dreaming, as though she was running and barking, with soft movements of her feet and muffled little barks.  But it was different this time.  The movements of her legs and feet were more frantic and jerky, and the sounds she made seemed more frantic as well.  

Over the next few days, I witnessed this happening again, and it occurred to me that either she was being affected by the radiation pulsing from the AMR ERT (automatic read encoder receiver transmitter) gas meters that SEMCO Energy had installed, or she was being sympathetic to my symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity, and reacting to me.

About a week later I started noticing that Comet, also an Aussie, had started developing "hot-spots" in his groin area that he would not stop chewing.  That was a first for him.  Comet had always been a pretty calm and laid-back Aussie, as far as Aussies go, but now he would not leave those hot-stops alone, and became quite agitated if I tried to look at them or even rub his belly, which was also highly unusual for him.  He loves to get his belly rubbed.  I did get a few peeks at the hot-spots, and he had chewed himself raw.

Just to make sure, I checked all the dogs for flees, and didn't find anything, not even flea "dirt."  There had been no change in diet either, so it appeared that something else was agitating Comet as well.  Maybe he was also being affected by the radiation pulsing AMR ERT meters.  Or maybe he was just being sympathetic to my symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity also.  Either way, it was disturbing to see both of the dogs "normal" behavior change like this.

At the same time, I was also experiencing the worst insomnia of my life.  I would wake up about every two hours with my heart pounding.  It would take about an hour to get calmed down, then I would return to sleep, only to wake-up again about two hours later.  This "routine" was not to my liking, and  I knew something had to change.  What were my options?

• Rent a camping trailer and camp out in the woods somewhere
• Or pitch a tent in the woods
• Temporarily move in with someone who had not had a radiation pulsing smart meter or AMR ERT meter installed
• Remove the gas service (and the AMR ERT meter)
• Try additional ways to block the microwave radiation 

Attempting to further block the radiation would be the quickest, easiest and least disruptive, so we started with that, and looked into getting some lead sheeting, something used in hospitals and dentist offices to shield radiation.  Pricing it out, we found that not only is lead sheeting very expensive, but is very difficult to come by as well.  However, within a week or so of getting lead sheeting estimates, a friend told us he had some left-over from a renovation project he had done in a medical facility, and gave the left-over lead sheeting to us!

So we wrapped both AMR ERT radiation pulsing meters as best we could with the lead sheeting, and I slept better that first night than I had in the past thirty nights.  Within a week Comet stopped chewing his hot-spots, has been letting me rub his belly, and I can see that the hot-spots have totally healed.  Ashling's sleep seems to have pretty much returned to "normal" as well.  So whether they were being "sympathetic" to my experience, or were experiencing adverse effects from the new gas meters themselves, after the meters were wrapped in lead, they both seemed to get better.

Then I had about a week of pretty good sleep, however for the last two nights I've been unable to sleep again because of the feeling that my whole body is being electrocuted.  So I don't think the lead sheeting is blocking the microwave radiation 100%. 

On October 19, we filed a complaint with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC):

SEMCO's new AMR ERT meters pulse radio frequencies 10.67 times per minute, per Dave Williams, SEMCO Regional Operation Manager, confirming why increased symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity are being reported by residents who are requesting the new meters be removed and replaced with 100% analog meters.  

Three different SEMCO employees/agents mislead us into believing their new meters only "wake-up" once a month.  Although through further investigation and confirmation by Dave Williams at SEMCO, that information was incorrect.  I would have never consented to the installation of two AMR ERT meters had I been told the truth of what they actually do.  I feel mislead and deceived by SEMCO.  And now they refuse to do anything about it. 

SEMCO does not have an "opt-out" program.  Is there anything we can do other than stopping SEMCO gas service and having the meters totally removed?

I've read that others have been down this road before with the MPSC, all to no avail.  So I am pretty sure we will be removing at least one of the new gas meters, and I am still talking to people about HB4916, the Analog Choice Bill here in Michigan.  When passed, everyone will be given the choice to have either a safe analog meter, or the new smart meter or AMR ERT meters.  Analog for me, please!

Being electromagnetically hypersensitive in a day of wireless-just-about-everything is indeed a challenge.  And I do encounter people who don't believe me.  Maybe it's kind of like the first people who were experiencing the symptoms of fibromyalgia: pain, fatigue, and tenderness... their symptoms were often not believed either.

There is plenty of evidence that smart meters, radiation pulsing meters, and other wireless devices DO cause harm.  Dr. George Carlo in the following video, did some of the first safety testing on cell phones:

And Daniel Hirsch, radiation expert and lecturer at UCSC, states here that taking whole-body and cumulative effects into account, smart meters emit 50 to 160 times the radiation of a cell phone.  So we really are dealing with a serious issue here, believe it or not.

I have faith that it's just a matter of time before electromagnetic hypersensitivity, and the potential dangers of wireless technology, are widely recognized, and we'll be saying something like...

"Of course!  What were we thinking!?"
